Who do you think you are? Is a popular TV programme where celebrities explore their family history, discovering significant foundations of their heritage and family traditions, helping them discover who they really are. As members of the Methodist Church we too have a long history of events and circumstances that have shaped our traditions, structures and understanding of God. I wonder if you have every wondered who we really are? And why we do things in particular ways (Church council is just another meeting isn’t it?) Revd Sarah would love you to join her on a journey of discovery, an introduction will be offered in a Sunday morning service, followed by an invitation to dig deeper in a separate session. We shall begin by exploring “OUR CALLING” at the Covenant service in January. Lent offers an opportunity to explore “A METHODIST WAY OF LIFE”. Our Annual Church Meeting is a time for the priesthood of all believers to take an active role in the decision making of the church, and so leads us to explore “BEING A CHURCH IN CONNEXION”. Finally in July I would like to have a dedicated “Mission Sunday” and explore the Methodist churches call to be “A JUSTICE SEEKING, EVANGELISTIC, GROWING CHURCH”. Each of these discussions will include opportunities for further discipleship and action groups should people wish to go even deeper. I hope that this will be of interest to you as we ask who are we as members of Poulton Methodist Church, and where is God leading us to be today.
